What this article covers: How to bring Zoho Books reporting tags into BrizoConsol — enabling the additional access they need, importing and mapping tags, loading the monthly profit and loss by reporting tag, viewing it, and how reporting-tag figures are combined across the entities in a group.
🛈 Before you start: The entity must already be connected to Zoho Books (see
Connecting an Entity to Zoho Books). Reporting tags are available on the
Free, Pro and Premium editions, not on Standard. Enabling access, importing tags and saving mappings need a user who can administer the entity’s data. Reporting tags are set up on each Zoho entity, not on a consolidated group.
What BrizoConsol Reads from Zoho Books
Item
Detail
Reporting tags
Each tag with its options and status (Active, Inactive or Draft).
P&L by reporting tag
Zoho’s accrual Profit and Loss split by tag option, stored month by month in the company’s base currency. Untagged amounts are kept under Unallocated.
Operational dataset
One read-only dataset per reporting tag, written from the stored months — see section 6.
Locations and projects are not available in Zoho’s dimension reports. Each reporting tag is reported on its own; two tags are never added together.
1. Enable Additional Access
1
Open Data Loading for the entitySelect the Zoho entity, then open Data Loading.
2
Click Enable additional accessThe button sits on the Zoho permissions card in the sync bar. Zoho asks you to approve the additional access; your existing connection stays active until setup completes.
3
Return to Data LoadingOnce approved, the page header shows Review Reporting Tag Setup and the period table gains a Reporting tags column.
If the card also shows Upgrade Zoho permissions, the connection is missing permissions BrizoConsol now uses; approve that upgrade as well. Until additional access is approved, the P&L by Reporting Tag option in the load dialog is marked Reauth required.
2. Import and Map Reporting Tags
1
Click Review Reporting Tag SetupOpens the Reporting Tag Setup page from Data Loading.
2
Click Import from ZohoShown as Refresh from Zoho once tags exist. The import runs in the background; the page updates when it finishes and shows the last imported time.
3
Choose a mapping for each tagPick a type in Confirm Mapping, or leave it as Not mapped.
4
Click Save Reporting Tag SetupSaves the mappings.
The mapping types are Store, Client Tracking, Project Tracking, Regional Division, Product Line, Service Line, Department, Team/Staff and Other. Mapping is only needed for the dashboard templates: a tag mapped to Department or Store makes the matching template available. Every tag is a data source in its own right, mapped or not.
3. Load the Monthly P&L by Reporting Tag
1
Choose the monthsOn Data Loading, click Load missing or Reload on a period row, or tick several periods and click Load selected.
2
Tick P&L by Reporting TagUnder Data Types in the load dialog. Transactions are not required for it.
3
Click Start LoadThe Reporting tags column shows the status of each month.
4. View the P&L by Reporting Tag
1
Click View P&L by Reporting TagOn the Reporting Tag Setup page.
2
Choose a Reporting Tag, From Date and To DateOnly active tags are listed; draft tags are not. The dates default to the current month, and must cover whole months within your plan’s reporting window.
3
Click Load Zoho ReportThe report is read from Zoho for the dates entered, with one column per tag option.
5. Using Reporting-Tag Data in Dashboards & Reports
Data source
What it shows
Operating Revenue by Reporting Tag
Operating revenue by tag option, including Unallocated
Operating Expenses by Reporting Tag
Operating expenses by tag option, including Unallocated
Net Profit by Reporting Tag
Net profit by tag option, including Unallocated
Each source is offered once per reporting tag, so you pick the tag and the chart, table or metric breaks it down by option. Two dashboard templates use the mapping from section 2: Department P&L and Store Performance.
6. Consolidating Reporting-Tag Data Across Entities
Group dashboards and reports
On a consolidated entity, the “by Reporting Tag” sources read every entity beneath it. You choose the reporting tag by name, and figures are added together wherever the tag name and the option name are the same in each entity. A different spelling in one entity appears as a separate series.
These sources add each entity’s figures as stored, in that entity’s base currency. When entities report in different currencies, use the operational dataset below, which is translated into the group’s currency.
Operational Data
Each Zoho entity also holds one read-only dataset per reporting tag, named Zoho Tag: <tag>, with the dimensions Reporting Tag Option and P&L Line. Only figures from the connection currently in force are written, so a replaced Zoho connection’s figures cannot reappear. The dataset is rewritten each time a month is loaded and is removed when Zoho is disconnected. Datasets with the same name in several entities are read as one source in dashboards and custom reports. See Operational Data Consolidation.
Operational Reports
Zoho identifies each reporting tag by its own ID, which differs between Zoho organisations. Each entity’s tag therefore opens as its own operational report, with the owning entity named on the report card, rather than as one combined report. For a combined view, use the group dashboards above or the dataset in a custom report.
