What this article covers: How to connect a BrizoConsol entity to Zoho Books using OAuth. By the end, the entity will have an active Zoho Books connection and BrizoConsol will begin importing its chart of accounts, trial balances, invoices, and bills automatically. An optional upgrade is also available to enable additional data including customer and vendor payments, credit notes, debit notes, and expenses.

🛈 Before you start: Make sure your group structure is set up with the entity already added to the hierarchy. See Setting Up Your First Group Structure if you have not done this yet.

Step 1 — Select the Entity in the Hierarchy

1
Go to Global Settings → Organisation HierarchyThe hierarchy tree shows all entities in your group. Entities not yet connected will show an UNCONNECTED badge.
2
Click the entity you want to connectThe right-hand panel opens showing Organisation Details — Display Name, Currency, Fiscal Year Start, Data Source, and the Connection section below.
3
Scroll to the Connection sectionFive buttons are shown — one for each supported platform and one for Excel/CSV upload.

Step 2 — Connect to Zoho Books

1
Click Connect to Zoho BooksBrizoConsol redirects you to Zoho's authorisation page. No credentials are stored in BrizoConsol — the connection uses OAuth.
2
Log in to ZohoEnter your Zoho credentials. If your account uses Google sign-in or another SSO method, use that instead.
3
Select the Zoho Books organisation to connectIf your Zoho account has access to multiple Zoho Books organisations, select the one that corresponds to the entity you are connecting.
4
Authorise accessZoho asks you to confirm the permissions BrizoConsol is requesting. Click Accept to proceed.
5
You are returned to BrizoConsolThe connection activates immediately. BrizoConsol begins importing the chart of accounts, trial balances, and recent invoices and bills in the background.

Step 3 — Confirm the Connection

After authorising, select the entity in the hierarchy tree and check the right-hand panel:

What you should see Meaning
No badge Connected and actively syncing — data import has begun
Data Source field Now shows Zoho
Connected Company Shows the name of the connected Zoho Books organisation
⚠ Still showing UNCONNECTED? The OAuth process may not have completed. Click Connect to Zoho Books again and repeat the authorisation. If the issue persists, check that you have admin access to the Zoho Books organisation you are trying to connect.

Step 4 — Repeat for Each Entity

Return to the hierarchy tree and repeat Steps 1–3 for every entity that uses Zoho Books. Each entity connects independently — work through the tree from top to bottom until all Zoho Books entities show a connected status.

Optional — Enable Additional Data Access

After the initial connection is active, Zoho Books entities on Free, Pro, or Premium plans can optionally be upgraded to import additional transaction data — customer and vendor payments, credit notes, debit notes, and expenses. This requires a second Zoho OAuth consent and is independent of the initial connection.

1
Go to Organisation Settings → Data LoadingThe Data Loading page shows a Zoho permissions panel in the sync bar. If additional access has not yet been enabled, the panel lists what is not yet included and shows an Enable additional access button.
2
Click Enable additional accessBrizoConsol redirects you to Zoho to approve the additional permissions. This is a second OAuth consent — it does not disconnect or affect the existing connection.
3
Accept in Zoho and return to BrizoConsolAfter you accept the Zoho prompt, BrizoConsol verifies the new grant and imports the additional data for all historical months in the background. A progress indicator is shown in the sync bar until the import completes.
🛈 Notes:
  • The Enable additional access button is visible only to users with data administrator access to the entity.
  • The existing connection stays active while the upgrade runs — data loading is not interrupted.
  • Once enabled, the additional data is included in every subsequent reload. A Transactions option also appears on the Data Loading page, allowing you to load journals, payments, credits, and expenses for individual months on demand.
  • This upgrade is specific to Zoho Books. Xero, QuickBooks Online, and MYOB connections do not have a separate permission upgrade step.
