What this article covers: How to create and manage text placeholders — reusable wording blocks that authors can insert into dashboard text cards and Insight Package text sections — including built-in placeholders, financial figure variables, and default placeholders per card type.
A text placeholder is a named block of wording, written once and available to every author who writes a dashboard text card or an Insight Package text section. When an author picks a placeholder, its wording is copied into the card — including any financial figures it names, which are read for the current reporting month each time the card is shown.
1. The Placeholder Library
The Text Placeholders page lists every placeholder available for this subscription — both built-in placeholders that come with BrizoConsol and any your subscription has added. Use the filter buttons to show All, Built-in, or Yours, and the search field to find by name or wording.

3. Editing and Customising Placeholders
Your own placeholders can be edited at any time. Click the placeholder row to open it. Change the name or wording as needed and save.
Built-in placeholders cannot be renamed, but their wording can be customised for your subscription. Click Customise on a built-in row to open a copy pre-filled with the built-in’s own wording. Edit the wording and save — your version replaces the built-in for everyone in this subscription. To return to the original, open the placeholder and click Reset to default.
4. Financial Figures in Wording
Placeholders can contain financial figures inserted as chips. Each chip names a figure from your data — a report line, a custom dataset value, or the current month or entity name. When a card is shown, BrizoConsol reads the figure for the current reporting month and replaces the chip with the value.
Each figure has formatting options: number of decimal places, thousands separator, currency symbol, abbreviation (K / M / B), negative format, and a fallback shown when no value is available.
5. Default Placeholder per Card Type
A dashboard text card that has not yet been written can show a placeholder automatically, ready for the author to edit. Click Default Placeholder at the bottom of the library to set which placeholder each card type starts from.
Select a placeholder for each card type, or leave it as No default to leave new cards empty. Changes apply to all future empty cards in this organisation — cards that already have wording are not affected.
6. Using a Placeholder in a Text Card
When writing a dashboard text card or an Insight Package text section, click Insert placeholder in the editor toolbar to open the picker. Choose a placeholder from the list to copy its wording into the editor at the cursor position. The wording can then be edited directly — it is no longer linked to the library entry.
