What this article covers: How to create and manage custom KPIs in BrizoConsol — building formula-based metrics using rows from your chart of accounts or financial sections.

The Custom KPIs page lets you define your own financial metrics using a formula builder. Custom KPIs can reference specific accounts or financial sections and support arithmetic operations — giving you the flexibility to build metrics that match your group's reporting needs.

1. Accessing the Page

Go to Organisation Settings → Custom KPIs from the left navigation.

2. Creating a Custom KPI

Click Add KPIOpens the formula builder.

Enter a KPI NameThis label appears in reports and dashboards for this metric.

Build the formulaAdd formula parts. Each part is one of three types:

Part Type Description

Row A reference to a chart of accounts entry or a financial section (such as Total Revenue or Total Expenses). Pulls the balance from that account or section in the current period.

Value A fixed numeric constant — for example, a divisor such as 100 when calculating a percentage from a raw figure.

Operator An arithmetic operator: + add, - subtract, × multiply, ÷ divide, or parentheses to group sub-expressions.

💡 Example: A Gross Margin % KPI: (Gross Profit ÷ Total Revenue) × 100 — a Gross Profit section row divided by a Total Revenue section row, multiplied by the constant 100.

Mark as Percentage (optional)Enable the Is Percentage toggle if the result should display as a percentage in reports.

Save the KPIClick Save to add the KPI. It becomes available in dashboards and KPI reports.

3. Formula Validation

The formula builder validates your formula as you build it. Common issues flagged: unbalanced parentheses, consecutive operators without a value or row between them, and a formula that starts or ends with an operator. The Save button is disabled until the formula is valid.

4. Editing and Deleting KPIs

Existing KPIs appear in a list on the page. Click the edit icon to reopen the builder and modify a KPI. Click the delete icon to permanently remove it. Deleted KPIs are removed from any reports or dashboards that referenced them.
