What this article covers: How to configure ownership relationships between your entities in BrizoConsol — the ownership table, enabling ownerships for the first time, adding and editing records, and how ownership percentages feed into consolidation and NCI calculations.
The Ownership page lets you define which entity owns which subsidiary, the ownership percentage, and the effective date from which that percentage applies. Go to Ownership & Equity → Ownership from the left navigation.
🛈 How ownership feeds consolidation: Ownership percentages entered here are used throughout BrizoConsol — for NCI calculations, consolidation runs, and group reporting. Keeping these records accurate ensures your consolidated financials reflect the correct group interest in each entity. Any change to an ownership record automatically invalidates cached consolidation data so the next run picks up the updated percentages.
1. Ownership Table
The Ownership page displays all configured ownership relationships in a table. Use the filter box to search by parent or child entity name.
Column
Description
Parent
The entity that holds the ownership interest — typically the top group or an intermediate holding entity.
Child
The subsidiary entity being owned.
Percentage %
The ownership percentage held by the parent in the child entity. Used to calculate NCI and the group effective interest.
Effective Date
The month from which this ownership percentage applies. BrizoConsol uses this date to apply the correct percentage for each reporting period.
Consolidate
✓ — the child entity is included in the consolidated group for this relationship. Unticked entities are excluded from consolidation runs.
Functions
Edit (pencil icon) or Delete (bin icon) the ownership record.
💡 Tip: Use the filter box in the top-right of the table to search by parent or child entity name — useful when you have many entities in your group.
2. Enabling Ownerships
If no ownership records exist yet, the table will be empty and an Enable button appears in the footer. Clicking Enable automatically creates a default ownership record for every entity in your Organisation Hierarchy — setting each to 100% ownership by its parent with an effective date of 10 years ago.
After enabling, review each record and adjust the ownership percentage and effective date to match your actual group structure. If any subsidiary is partially owned, update its percentage before running a consolidation.
🛈 Note: The Enable button only appears when there are no ownership records at all. Once at least one record exists, use + Add a Ownership to add further records.
3. Adding an Ownership Record
Click + Add a Ownership in the footer to open the Adding a new ownership dialog.
Field
Description
Parent
The entity that holds the ownership interest. Defaults to the top organisation. For sub-subsidiary structures, select the intermediate parent entity.
Organisation
The subsidiary entity being owned. Must be different from the Parent — BrizoConsol will show a validation error if the same entity is selected for both.
Effective Date
The month from which this ownership percentage applies. Select the month and year using the date picker. BrizoConsol applies this percentage for all periods from this date forward.
Percent
The ownership percentage (0–100). Enter the parent share in the subsidiary. For example, enter 75 if the parent owns 75% of the child entity.
Consolidate
Tick to include this entity in the consolidation run. Untick to exclude it — for example, if the subsidiary is not yet operational or should be reported separately.
Click Add to save the record. The table updates immediately and BrizoConsol invalidates any cached consolidation data so the next run uses the new percentages.
4. Editing an Ownership Record
Click the edit icon (pencil) on any row to open the Editing Ownership dialog. All fields — Parent, Organisation, Effective Date, Percent, and Consolidate — are editable. Click Save to apply your changes.
💡 Percentage changes: If you need to record a change in ownership percentage over time, add a new record with the updated percentage and the new effective date rather than editing the existing one. This preserves the history of ownership changes for accurate period-by-period consolidation.
5. Deleting an Ownership Record
Click the delete icon (bin) on any row to open a confirmation dialog. Click Delete Ownership to permanently remove the record. This cannot be undone — BrizoConsol will recalculate consolidation data without this relationship on the next run.
