Bring in reporting tags
If your Zoho companies tag transactions by department, outlet or anything else, BrizoConsol can read Zoho’s profit and loss by each tag, every month, for dashboards and reports. Set it up once per company.
1Know what you get
South Pte Ltd runs three outlets. In Zoho Books, its transactions carry two reporting tags: Department (Sales, Operations, Admin) and Outlet (Orchard, Tampines, Jurong).
| What is read | Zoho’s profit and loss by each tag, month by month, as Zoho calculates it. Amounts with no tag come in as Unallocated. |
|---|---|
| Where it goes | One datasource per tag — Zoho Tag: Outlet, for example — with the tag’s options and the P&L lines. You use it in dashboards, charts, metrics, tables and custom reports. |
| What it doesn’t change | Your statements and consolidation. Tags are reported on their own, and two tags are never added together. |
2Import South’s reporting tags
- Select South Pte Ltd, and open Settings → Organisation Settings → Data Loading.
- Click Review Reporting Tag Setup at the top of the page.
- Click Import from Zoho. The tags and their options appear when the import finishes.
Each tag shows its status in Zoho — Active, Inactive or Draft — and up to six of its options. If you add a tag or option in Zoho later, click Refresh from Zoho.
3Map the tags
A mapping tells BrizoConsol what each tag stands for. Two mappings matter most: Department and Store open the shared dashboard templates in the next tutorial.
- Under Confirm Mapping, choose Department for the Department tag, and Store for Outlet.
- Click Save Reporting Tag Setup.
The other choices — Client Tracking, Project Tracking, Regional Division, Product Line, Service Line, Team/Staff, Other — describe the tag, and Not mapped leaves it undescribed. Every tag gets its own datasource whatever you choose.
4Load the months
- Click ← Back to Data Load.
- Tick the months you report on — Jan-2026 to Oct-2026 in the example — and click Load selected.
- Untick everything except P&L by Reporting Tag, and click Start Load.
Each month’s Reporting tags column shows Loaded when it is in. You don’t need to load Transactions for this: the amounts come from Zoho’s report, not from the postings.
After that, the nightly read keeps the last 6 months up to date. Load older months, or a month you change in Zoho, the same way.
5Check against Zoho
- Click Review Reporting Tag Setup, then View P&L by Reporting Tag.
- Choose the Reporting Tag Outlet, From Date 1 October 2026 and To Date 31 October 2026, and click Load Zoho Report.
This report reads straight from Zoho, in South’s currency and on the accrual basis. Each row is a P&L line for a month; the options’ columns plus Unallocated add up to Entity total.
Check
Entity total on each line matches South’s Profit & Loss for October. In the example, 6,300.00 of salaries has no Outlet tag — head-office staff — so it shows as Unallocated.
A large Unallocated amount usually means transactions were entered without the tag. Tag them in Zoho, then load the month again.
6If something goes wrong
| There is no Review Reporting Tag Setup button | The connection doesn’t have the additional access yet, or the plan is Standard. See Enable additional access. |
|---|---|
| P&L by Reporting Tag shows Reauth required | The connection needs re-authorising for payments, credits and expenses before reporting-tag amounts can be loaded. Enable the additional access. |
| Import reporting tags for this connection before mapping them. | Click Import from Zoho first. |
| A tag is missing from the report’s list | Only Active tags can be reported. Activate it in Zoho, or publish it if it is a draft, then click Refresh from Zoho. |
| Zoho dimension columns changed between months. | The tag’s options changed within the date range. Report the months before and after the change separately. |
| Select complete months within the allowed Actual reporting window. | Choose the first and last day of months your plan covers. |
Zoho’s locations and projects aren’t available in these reports — only reporting tags.
