Eliminate intercompany invoices and bills

When your Zoho companies charge each other, each one raises a real invoice or bill in Zoho, naming the other as customer or vendor. BrizoConsol can use those documents to eliminate the charge: as a check on a monthly rule, or as the entry itself.

You will needOctober reloaded with invoices and bills, as in Lock the period in Zoho, then reload. Each company mapped to the group chart.
By the endNorth’s management fee to South eliminated every month by a rule that only posts when the invoice exists, and North’s October sale to East eliminated from the invoice and bill themselves.

1List what your Zoho companies charge each other

In Your Group, two intercompany items go through Zoho Books in October 2026:

Monthly management feeNorth Pte Ltd invoices South Pte Ltd SGD 20,000 (INV-000231) to 4900 Management Fee Income. South records it as a bill from North to 6420 Management Fees. Only intercompany amounts go through these accounts — a rule handles it (steps 2–4).
Goods sold to EastNorth invoices East Sdn Bhd SGD 30,000 (INV-000245) to 4000 Sales, the same account as its outside customers. East records the bill in MYR. A rule can’t pick out East’s part of 4000, so you eliminate the documents (step 5).
North invoices South Pte Ltd for the management fee and South records the bill in Zoho Books; a rule from North 4900 to South 6420 eliminates both sides when an invoice or bill names South Pte Ltd
The fee as it sits in each company’s Zoho Books, and the rule that clears it.

In Zoho, set each sister company up as a customer or vendor under its real name — South Pte Ltd, not South or SPL. BrizoConsol finds the documents by those names.

2Add a rule for the fee

  1. Select Your Group, and open Intercompany → Elimination Rules.
  2. Click Add an Auto Elimination Rule.
  3. Enter the Description North management fee to South, and choose the Intercompany Type Management Charges.
  4. Choose Method 1: Use the amount in the ‘From Organisation’ only — North’s invoice is the figure that counts.
  5. Under Leg Scope, choose North Pte Ltd and 4900 as the From side, and South Pte Ltd and 6420 as the To side.

The methods and tolerance are explained in Clear intercompany balances.

3Only eliminate when the invoice exists

A rule reads whole accounts. If North forgets to invoice one month, or South books the fee from a journal with no bill, the rule still posts whatever is on the accounts. Tie it to the Zoho documents instead:

  1. Under Only eliminate when an invoice or bill names, tick South Pte Ltd under Customers.
  2. Click Confirm.
Adding a new elimination rule: Method 1 from North Pte Ltd 4900 Management Fee Income to South Pte Ltd 6420 Management Fees, eliminating only when an invoice or bill names South Pte Ltd
The two sides (1), and the name the month’s invoice must carry (2).
Where the names come fromThe customers on the posted invoices, and the vendors on the posted bills, of the two companies in the rule. Choose the companies first; the lists fill from their documents.
What countsA posted invoice or bill of either company, dated in the month, naming South Pte Ltd. Draft and void documents don’t count.
How names are comparedIgnoring capitals, punctuation and endings such as Pte Ltd or Sdn Bhd.

Saving the rule recalculates the group, and October’s fee is eliminated.

The check needs the month’s invoices and bills in BrizoConsol. The nightly read brings in the last 6 months; for an older month, reload it with Invoices and Bills ticked.

4Deal with a month the invoice is missing

In November, the month is loaded before North raises its invoice. The rule doesn’t post. It holds the entry in Intercompany → Elimination Review, with the reason:

Elimination Review: November’s management fee held back because no invoice or bill in November 2026 names South Pte Ltd, with Review and Reject buttons
Why the entry was held (1), and what you can do with it (2).
The invoice is just lateRaise it in Zoho Books and reload November for North. The rule then finds it and posts on its own.
The fee was booked without an invoiceClick Review, check the entry, and click Confirm & Replace to post it anyway.
The amounts shouldn’t be eliminatedClick Reject.

5Eliminate the sale to East from its documents

North’s 4000 Sales also holds sales to outside customers, so eliminate the October sale from the Zoho invoice and bill themselves:

  1. Open Intercompany → Sales / Purchases / Services, keep the scenario on Actual and Oct-2026, and click Add Elimination Entry.
  2. Click Documents at the top of the dialog.
  3. On the From side, choose North Pte Ltd and 4000 Sales; on the To side, East Sdn Bhd and its purchases account.
  4. Tick North’s INV-000245 and East’s bill for it, or click the match button to pair them.
  5. Check the lines, and click Confirm.

North’s side is in SGD and East’s in MYR, so after translation the two sides rarely agree to the cent. Allocate the difference to FX difference. The full dialog is in Clear intercompany balances.

Document entries aren’t included in the Standard edition. There, post a GL entry for the amounts instead.

Check

On the group Profit & Loss for Oct-2026 with Show Entities on, the eliminations cancel North’s 20,000 fee income against South’s fee expense, and the sale to East against East’s purchase. On Month End Status, the Eliminations card shows Posted.

6If something goes wrong

The name lists are emptyNo posted invoices or bills are loaded for those companies. Reload a month with Invoices and Bills ticked.
The sister company isn’t in the name listIt has no posted invoice or bill in the loaded months, or is set up in Zoho under another name. Fix the contact in Zoho and reload.
Every month lands in Elimination ReviewThe invoices name the company differently from the name you ticked, or are left as drafts. Check the contact and status in Zoho.
The rule posts in a month with no fee invoiceAnother posted document that month names South Pte Ltd — any invoice or bill between the two counts.
No documents are listed in the entry dialogThe month’s invoices or bills aren’t loaded for that company, or the account isn’t mapped. Check Month End Status and Account Mapping.
